Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University entered the world ranking of UI GreenMetric 2023

On December 5, 2023, the results of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, an annual world ranking of sustainable development of universities, were published. This year, the list includes 1,183 educational institutions from different countries, including 18 universities in Kazakhstan. Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University took part in the UI GreenMetric world ranking for the first time and took 1015th place in the authoritative list.

The University of Indonesia (UI) initiated the World University Ranking in 2010, which later became known as the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. The rating is designed to assess the level of sustainable development of universities, the efforts of universities to maintain the environmental friendliness of campuses. All universities in the world committed to sustainability can participate in it.

The activities of universities are evaluated in six categories: environment and infrastructure; efficient use of energy and the impact on climate change; waste management; rational use of water resources; transport policy; education and research. Inclusion in the GreenMetric UI gives universities a number of advantages. First of all, it is the status of a leader in sustainable development, as well as the opportunity to internationalize activities and establish international cooperation

The achievement of such indicators by the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University became possible thanks to the developed Strategy of Sustainable Development of the university until 2030 and the purposeful work of the entire team.

We realize that caring for the environment should become part of the daily culture of our large community – students, faculty, and employees. The University recognizes its responsibility to the future generation for the preservation of the environment and is ready to support the sustainable development of the region and the country not only through scientific research and student initiatives, but also by personal example.
