The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan introduced new academicians

A solemn event dedicated to the official presentation of the newly elected academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the scientific community took place today in Almaty, in the "Gylym Ordasy" building. The event was attended by the first leaders and representatives of 40 universities and 40 research institutes, more than 50 young scientists, as well as representatives of the media.

In his welcoming speech, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akhylbek Kazhygulovich Kurishbayev stressed the importance of systemic reform in the field of science in Kazakhstan and the need to create a new management mechanism where scientists have a significant voice. He noted that the creation of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the granting of its state status is a key element of this new system.

Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek in his video message recalled the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev, dated June 1, 2022, to increase the role of the National Academy of Sciences, giving it a state status. He stressed the stages of implementation of this order, including the creation of a non-profit joint-stock company "National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and giving the Academy a special status under the President. The Minister also noted the importance of the recently signed law "On Science and Technology Policy" as the main innovation in the field of science in recent years.

Akim of Almaty Yerbolat Askarbekovich Dosayev sent a congratulatory speech in which he stressed that Almaty is the main center of science and education in the country, and the goals of the Academy are closely intertwined with the main development programs of the city. He congratulated the new academicians on their well-deserved titles and expressed confidence in their further contribution to the development of national science.

The newly elected academicians were officially awarded diplomas and badges by Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Darkhan Zhumakanovich Ahmed-Zaki.

This event marked the outstanding achievements of scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of science in Kazakhstan. It emphasized the important role of science in the development of the country and marked the beginning of the formation of the updated composition of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of this event, an extended meeting of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held. At the meeting, the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists, Maksat Kizatovich Zhabagin, reported on the six-month work of the council.  Academicians also took part in the meeting, which contributed to the establishment of continuity.  Young scientists discussed the development of domestic science and made new proposals.
