«Referendum 2024: Kazakhstan's new step in nuclear energy»

The final scientific discussion meeting "Referendum-2024" was held at Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University. The meeting was moderated by Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Work Zhandos Bazartai. The faculty and students of the University took part in the discussion.

Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences Nurlybek Akhatayev and Candidate of Technical Sciences Smail Taimanov noted the safety of new technologies in the field of nuclear energy and environmental impact. Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Meruert Umirzakova analyzed the factors affecting the country's economy during the construction of NPP.

Please be reminded that a national referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant was held in Kazakhstan on October 6. As a result, 71.12% vote in favor of the project.

At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed the role of NPP in the global energy process and expressed confidence that it can become an effective and safe solution to the problems of the economy and environmental sustainability of the country.
