An American professor shared his scientific experience

Dana Abdrasheva, Member of the Board on Academic Affairs of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, met with John Carruthers, Professor at Cornell University America.

This is Professor John Caruthers' second visit to the region of Syr. At the meeting, the speech was made on the development of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experience in research areas. He spoke about the areas of his research, especially about regional development and innovative methods in the higher education system, and also expressed his willingness to work together with the university. 

John Caruthers was awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award for a Planning Educator in 2016. And in 2019, he received GW George Washington highest academic award. He is also a member of the Board of the Western Regional Scientific Association.

His research has been published in leading journals, including Environment and Planning B, International Regional Science Review, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Regional Science, etc.

In addition, he is the editor-in-chief of one of the most influential journals in the field of regional development, Growth and Change, which publishes cutting-edge research in the field of regional and urban development.

This meeting marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University and Cornell University.

Cornell University is one of the leading universities in the United States and ranks 16th in the QS WUR ranking and 20th in the Times Higher Education ranking.

During the visit, foreign scientists held a seminar for teachers and students on writing scientific articles in highly rated journals.

It is worth noting that the professor's visit was organized within the framework of the program for financing foreign professors of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
