The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan held official meetings with the heads of leading universities in Great Britain

From January 23 to January 25, 2025, a delegation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the RoK, headed by Minister Sayasat Nurbek, visited a number of higher educational institutions in Great Britain as part of a working visit. During the visit, the Minister held meetings with the heads of leading universities, including the universities of Cardiff, Glasgow and Heriot-Watt.

On January 23, Sayasat Nurbek visited Cardiff University, where he held talks with Wendy Larner, President of the University. The parties discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of scientific research and academic exchanges, as well as prospects for the implementation of joint educational programs.

On January 24, a visit to the University of Glasgow, one of the Russell Group's leading universities, took place. During the meeting, plans for further cooperation in the field of higher education were discussed. The University of Glasgow has expressed its intention to open its branch on the basis of one of the Kazakh universities, which will be an important step in the development of international educational partnership.

On January 25, the Minister visited Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, which is a long-term partner of Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov. Current projects and opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of scientific research and educational initiatives were considered.

During the visit, special attention was paid to demonstrating the research potential of universities, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

The Minister also met with Kazakhstani students studying under the Bolashak international program, as well as with foreign students, and spoke at a meeting of the Association of Central Asian Students at the University of Edinburgh. In his speech, he noted the importance of internationalization of education and science as key factors for the sustainable development of Kazakhstan, and also called on students to actively participate in the development of scientific initiatives.

The working visit of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the RoK, Sayasat Nurbek, became an important step in strengthening international cooperation between Kazakhstan and Great Britain in the field of science and higher education.
