The Results of the Joint International Project Have Been Summed Up

As part of a joint archaeological project between Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University and the International Turkic Academy, a special protective covering and a commemorative stele were installed at the Early Medieval settlement of Zhankent to help preserve this historical site.

At the official ceremony, Maynura Buribayeva, Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations at the university, delivered a welcoming address. She highlighted the significance of the project, which has been actively implemented over the past three years to safeguard historical heritage, and expressed confidence that scientific collaboration between the parties would continue.  

The event was attended by Riga Onayeva, Head of the Department at the Ministry of Culture and Information of the RoK; Shahin Mustafayev, President of the International Turkic Academy; Kuanysh Zhanuzakov, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture, Archives, and Documentation of the Kyzylorda Region; media representatives; as well as university faculty and students. 

As part of the opening ceremony, an exhibition was held showcasing the results of archaeological excavations conducted between 2023 and 2025, including valuable artifacts discovered at the site.

The excavations were carried out by the staff of the university’s Scientific Research Center for Archaeology and Ethnography in collaboration with Kazakh and Uzbek archaeologists. 

This large-scale project is a significant initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the country’s historical and cultural heritage, as well as passing archaeological knowledge and experience from generation to generation. Moreover, it serves as an important experimental platform for young archaeologists.
