Academic Council Meeting Dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Bakbergen Sarsenuly

Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University held a solemn meeting of the Academic Council dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Honorary Citizen of Kyzylorda Region, holder of the Orders of “Kurmet,” “Parasat,” and “Barys” II Degree, Doctor of Economics, and Honorary Professor of the University, Bakbergen Sarsenuly Dosmanbetov.

At the meeting, Chairwoman of the Board – Rector Beibitkul Karimova presented a congratulatory address on behalf of the university staff, highlighting Professor Dosmanbetov’s significant contribution to the development of the university.

“In the early 1990s, during Kazakhstan’s independence years, thanks to Bakbergen Sarsenuly’s initiative, Kyzylorda Pedagogical Institute named after N.V. Gogol was renamed after the Great Steppe philosopher – Korkyt Ata. Due to consistent efforts to strengthen the material and technical base and the academic staff, the number of programs expanded from 11 pedagogical specialties to 37, introducing entirely new humanities majors. As a result, the pedagogical institute was transformed into Korkyt Ata Humanitarian University. The scientific, teaching, and organizational work of Bakbergen Sarsenuly will forever remain inscribed in golden letters in the history of the university,” noted the Rector.

The event was attended by: Academician of NAS RK, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, Rector of Kyzylorda Open University Klyshbay Bisenov; Honorary Professor of Korkyt Ata University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, recipient of the “Kurmet” and “Parasat” Orders, Serikbay Koshkarov; public and political figure, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Murat Baktiyaruly; founder of “Kogham TV,” member of the Writers’ and Journalists’ Unions of Kazakhstan Shakizada Abdikarimov; Chairman of the Veterans Council, Professor Bakhyt Kaliyev; Deputy Director of the Professional Development Institute of the “Orleu” National Center for Advanced Training, Candidate of Historical Sciences Saken Serikbayev; Professor of “Mathematics and IT” at Bolashak University, Doctor of Technical Sciences Omirbek Umbetov; as well as public figures Sailau­bay Abishev, Sadouakas Ansatov, Ibragim Abibullayev, Nazhmaddin Musabayev, Nurmurat Yermanov, Sabi Ansat, and many colleagues, friends, and university faculty.

Biographical Background

Bakbergen Sarsenuly was born in 1945. In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Construction and Urban Management of the Moscow Institute of Management named after S. Ordzhonikidze.

– 1971: Senior Engineer at the mobile mechanical column of “Kurishkensharkurylys” trust.

– 1971: Secretary of the Komsomol Committee and Lecturer at Kyzylorda Pedagogical Institute named after N.V. Gogol.

– 1973: Postgraduate student at the Moscow Academy of Management.

– 1976: Senior Lecturer, Head of Department, Vice-Rector, and Rector of Kyzylorda Pedagogical Institute.

– 1996: Rector of Kyzylorda Humanitarian University.

– 1996: Mayor of Kyzylorda city, Chairman of the Administrative Council of the Special Economic Zone.

– 1999: Senator of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Kyzylorda Region.

– 2005: Deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Secretary of the Committee on Finance and Budget.

In 1994, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on “Methodology of Statistical Assessment of Kazakhstan’s Demographic and Labor Potential” and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Economics.

Author of 12 monographs and over 120 scientific articles.
