UI GreenMetric 2025: Korkyt Ata University in the world list

UI GreenMetric has officially announced the results of its 15th edition of the World University Rankings (WUR), with 1,745 institutions from 105 countries participating. This makes it the largest global ranking system dedicated to evaluating universities' sustainability performance. This year, 30 universities from Kazakhstan were included in the ranking.

Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University has earned its position at 1259 place in the UI GreenMetric WUR 2025. This result is an important milestone for our university, reflecting our growing commitment and ongoing efforts to strengthen sustainable development practices on campus. Our position in the ranking helps us understand where we stand globally and regionally in terms of environmental responsibility, and it provides a clear direction for future improvements.

As Central Asian countries are predominantly landlocked, environmental sustainability has become a strategic national priority across the region. Issues such as water scarcity, climate vulnerability, and limited natural resources underscore the need for universities to play a transformative role in promoting greener and more resilient communities.

Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University is actively responding to this call. In line with our strategic development areas, we are enhancing initiatives related to sustainability, green campus transformation, and responsible resource management.

Participation in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is a valuable component of this process. The ranking assesses universities across six key sustainability indicators:
• Sustainable infrastructure
• Energy and climate change
• Waste management
• Water conservation
• Transportation
• Education and research in sustainability

By engaging in this international benchmarking platform, we are able to evaluate our progress, identify areas for advancement, and align our environmental strategies with recognized global best practices.
