"Themis-2026" – a professional forum for law and justice

A professional skills competition, "Themis-2026", was held at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University among first-year students of the "Jurisprudence" educational program.

The event was organized with the aim of implementing the tasks outlined in the Head of State's Message, "Equitable Kazakhstan: Law and order, economic growth, public optimism", deeply affirming the ideology of law and order, and enhancing the professional competence of future lawyers. 

The main goal of the competition was to raise the level of legal knowledge among students, foster respect for the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, cultivate a sense of patriotism, and develop their skills in creative thinking, free expression of thoughts, critical analysis, and research.

The competition participants comprehensively demonstrated not only their theoretical knowledge but also their abilities in professional thinking, oratorical skills, and creative potential.

The competition was organized in several stages. In the first stage, "The greeting is the beginning of speech", participants introduced themselves as future lawyers and showcased their public speaking culture.  In the second stage, "My profession is my pride", students conveyed the importance of their chosen profession through video clips. And in the decisive stage, "Direct question", participants answered questions on subjects such as "Theory of state and law", "Constitutional law of the Republic of Kazakhstan", and "Law enforcement activities of the Republic of Kazakhstan," proving their level of knowledge.

To objectively evaluate the competition, specialists from courts, prosecutor's offices, and law enforcement agencies, as well as the head of the "Jurisprudence" educational program, served as judges. They fairly assessed the participants' knowledge, level of professional training, speech culture, and creative approach.

Concluding the competition, the winning teams that showed the best results and took prize-winning places were awarded special diplomas, and active participants received letters of appreciation.

Also, the title "Themis of the Year" was awarded to the new 2026 winner by tradition, and the 2025 winner passed on his crown.

This competition of the professional skills has become an important platform contributing to the enhancement of students' legal literacy, the formation of respect for the law, and the professional development of future lawyers.
