Korkyt Ata University hosted an online seminar on international patenting and project commercialization

An online seminar on "International patenting of scientific developments and project commercialization" was organized at the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. The event was held at the university's request, with the support of the National Institute of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Qazpatent) and the "Science Fund" JSC.

The seminar was organized within the "Technology and innovation support center", which has been operating at the university since April 19th, 2024. This center is implemented on the initiative of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with Qazpatent. Its main goal is to stimulate technological progress by providing information and consulting services in the field of intellectual property, supporting patent research, and developing the region's innovation ecosystem.

Aidyn Artykova, Deputy Director of the Republican State Enterprise "National Institute of Intellectual Property", delivered a welcoming speech at the event. Uldana Shalabaeva, Head of the Coordination Department of the Technology and Innovation Support Center and Patent Research, led the organizational work of the event.

During the seminar, Olzhas Zhubanov addressed issues of international patenting of scientific developments, elaborating on the patent application procedure, requirements, and specific features of filing. Ayzhan Zheksembayeva, Director of the Investment and New Projects Department of "Science Fund" JSC, provided comprehensive information on the commercialization of scientific projects and grant funding mechanisms.

University scientists, staff, and students actively participated in the event and received detailed answers to their questions.

It is worth noting that nowadays, scientists from Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University hold
18 patents, 4 inventions, and over 100 author's certificates. Furthermore, 3 patents are being commercialized within the framework of projects by "Science Fund" JSC.

This seminar served as an important platform for strengthening the link between science and production, promoting scientific developments to an international level, and their effective commercialization.
