Young innovators triumphed at the “Digital Qazaqstan” IT Forum

In the final of the “Digital Qazaqstan Battle” national startup competition in Shymkent, the Kyzylorda Hub resident—the “CortexAI” project — took second place and received a cash prize of 5 million tenge. The competition featured 18 top teams from across the country, each presenting their projects. Participants were evaluated based on project development dynamics, team qualifications, business scalability, and venture capital appeal.

“CortexAI” is an innovative solution for the medical field. The project is an artificial intelligence system that predicts the risk of transplanted kidney rejection in the body. By analyzing 34 different parameters, including the patient’s genetic data, the algorithm predicts the probability of a successful operation with 84% accuracy. Besides, the system reduces information processing time from 12 hours to just 33 seconds. This project is a graduate of the Startup Orda program at the Kyzylorda Hub business incubator. The team leader is Asylzhan Abdullaev, a resident of Syrdarya region.

Furthermore, at the AI-Sana session during the “Digital Qazaqstan” International IT Forum, students from the Institute of Artificial Intelligence—Nurbol Onalbekov and Nurbek Abildaev — presented their project “PhishGuard” and were named among the best innovative solutions.

“PhishGuard” is a cybersecurity system that uses artificial intelligence to detect phishing sites, fake web pages, and other dangerous online resources. The project is implemented as a browser extension and a service verification module. The system automatically checks a website the moment it is opened and determines the threat level based on the URL structure, domain reputation, secure communication, and a comprehensive analysis of content and scripts. As a result, the user receives an urgent warning and is shown the security level (low, medium, high).

During the forum, young specialists connected with potential partners and attracted the project’s first users. This indicates that domestic startups are in demand in the market.

These achievements by Kyzylorda Hub residents and young innovators demonstrate that the digital technology and artificial intelligence industry in our country is actively developing.
