"Girls in AI": An Event uniting talented girls from around the world

As part of the Science month, an international hackathon titled "Girls in AI" was organized at the Artificial Intelligence Institute. The main goal of the event was to increase the engagement of girls in the field of artificial intelligence, develop their practical skills, and foster their ability to work in a multilingual international environment.

In the first part of the two-stage idea competition, students presented their projects and demonstrated solutions developed based on artificial intelligence. The projects covered areas such as education, psychological health, security, and digital services. Participants defended their projects in Kazakh, Russian, and English, gaining the opportunity to convey their ideas to an international audience. 

The second part included a mini hackathon organized around the Sustainable development goals (SDGs). Participants developed their solutions within the theme "AI for Sustainable Future" in the areas of education, mental health, smart campus, and gender equality. In a short period, teams progressed from idea to MVP (Minimum Viable Product) level and presented their projects in a pitch format.

A distinctive feature of the hackathon was the mixed team formation: first-year students acted as primary participants, while second-year students served as mentors. Besides, international students from Turkey, studying at Korkyt Ata University, actively participated in the hackathon, providing opportunities for international experience exchange within the teams.

During the event, participants demonstrated how modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Figma, and others can be used to transform their ideas into real products in a short time.

The "Girls in AI" event became one of the important initiatives organized as part of the Science Month, contributing to the development of students' creative thinking, teamwork, and technological skills.
