DIGITAL EDUCATION AND EDTECH: NEW HORIZONS IN TEACHER TRAINING

Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University is currently hosting a visiting session of the Educational and Methodological Association (EMA) under the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University. The meeting focuses on advancing digital technologies and EdTech trends in teacher education, specifically for preschool education - 012, general primary education - 013, and social pedagogy - 018.

The session was opened by Beibitkul Karimova, Chairwoman of the board - Rector of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University. In her opening remarks, she highlighted that digital technology has become an indispensable driver of change in education. Citing 2026 data from the Ministry of Education of the RK, she noted 841,000 vacant teaching positions nationwide, including critical needs for social educators and psychologists. She characterized the meeting as a strategic milestone for discussing legislative updates in the sector.

Nauryzbay Baikadamov, Chairman of the board - Rector of Korkyt Ata University, emphasized the ongoing implementation of digital learning platforms and the development of online courses at the institution. He noted that the university is actively running programs to enhance the digital literacy of faculty members and will continue to leverage EdTech to produce globally competitive teachers.

Key highlights from the speakers: Gulzhan Zharasova, Chair of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education, delivered a report on "Teacher Training: Current Challenges", stressing the necessity of integrating  Artificial Intelligence and fostering IT competencies among students, Manara Adamova, Director of the Department of Preschool Education (Ministry of Education RK), outlined priority areas for development and the evolving professional requirements for preschool educators in the digital age, Anikó Nagy Varga presented on "Shaping early childhood education in the age of ai: impacts, tools, and ethical considerations" online, Botagoz Bermukhambetova, Deputy Director of the National Center for Higher Education Development, discussed the role of AI in the future of research practices for both students and faculty.

The session serves as a vital platform for modernizing educational content and ensuring the effective integration of digital technologies into the national teacher training system.
