INSTRUCTORS MASTERED MOOC DEVELOPMENT SKILLS ON THE COURSERA PLATFORM

The Professional Development and Continuing Education Center organized a seminar on "Requirements for developing and recording massive open online courses on the Coursera platform" to enhance the professional qualifications of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University faculty. The seminar was held on the Zoom platform, with 330 university instructors participating.

The main objective of the webinar was to clarify the stages of developing massive open online courses, pedagogical and technical requirements, as well as to foster skills in implementing high-quality online courses into the university's digital educational system, the specifics of online course development, and the capabilities of the Coursera platform.

Participants received detailed information on the features of the massive open online course format, online course structure planning, content preparation algorithms, methods for developing video lectures and test assignments, stages of uploading to the LMS platform, and course quality assessment criteria during the seminar. Besides, the structure of the Coursera platform, requirements for developing digital content for an international audience, and issues related to the use of interactive learning elements were extensively covered.

The seminar discussed the differences between massive open online courses and traditional learning, the main stages of developing massive open online courses, course structure and learning outcomes, requirements for preparing and recording video content, the capabilities of Course Builder, common mistakes in course recording and recommendations, as well as technical requirements for video shooting. Specifically, issues related to camera and sound quality, lighting, shot composition, speaker's delivery, Full HD editing, subtitle preparation, and the use of infographics were clarified.

The seminar was conducted using presentations and video materials, and at the end, instructors expressed their suggestions, asked questions, and shared their experiences in an open discussion format.
