THE INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR “HUMANITY IN SPACE – 65 YEARS” HAS BEGUN

The international seminar «Humanity in Space – 65 Years» has commenced at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

On the first day of the event, an informative lecture was held for international students on the history of the Baikonur Cosmodrome and its role in global space science.

The lecture was delivered by Professor Tastanbek Satbay, Doctor of Historical Sciences. It was attended by 22 students from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and China.

During the session, the academician provided a detailed account of the stages in the development of the Baikonur Cosmodrome — from its foundation to the present day. Besides, he thoroughly examined the facility’s strategic significance in the current geopolitical context, its historical and economic importance for Kazakhstan, and the cosmodrome’s role in the system of international relations.

At the end of the lecture, the international students asked questions on topics of interest to them and received comprehensive answers from the expert.

It should be noted that as part of the international seminar programme, which will run from September 6^th to 11^th, participants will explore Kazakhstan’s cultural and educational attractions. They will also visit the Baikonur Cosmodrome, where they will witness the launch of the “Progress MS-35” cargo spacecraft using a “Soyuz-2.1a” launch vehicle.
