A MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE US CONSULATE GENERAL WAS HELD

A meeting was held at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University with representatives of the US Consulate General. The Chair of the Board of Trustees and Rector, Nauryzbay Baikadamov, told the guests about the university’s activities, its achievements and its international links.

Discussions centred on strengthening educational and cultural cooperation between the university and the US diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan during the meeting. The Rector expressed his gratitude for the support provided over more than ten years in attracting lecturers through the Fulbright Programme.

Besides, proposals were put forward to continue the Fulbright Programme, to create opportunities for student academic mobility at US universities, and to arrange internships for lecturers lasting from three months to a year. The issue of expanding the university community’s access to American academic publications and digital library resources was raised.

Press Attaché Ingrid Korsgaard expressed her gratitude to the university’s management for the warm welcome extended to lecturer Mikaela Firi, who had arrived under the Fulbright programme. In her turn, Mikaela Firi thanked for the support she had received and noted her interest in learning the Kazakh language.

Following the meeting, plans were outlined for the implementation of the English Access Scholarship Programme and the development of joint initiatives for students and lecturers.
