STUDENTS AT KORKYT ATA UNIVERSITY WERE INTRODUCED TO THE ENGLISH ACCESS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

A seminar aimed at expanding international educational opportunities for students was held at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. During the meeting, representatives from the US Consulate General and the English language program coordinator, Nurgul Zhanabaeva, told students about the benefits of the English Access Scholarship program.

Ingrid Korsgaard, Press Attaché at the US Consulate General, who spoke at the seminar, emphasized the importance of the Access program, which is implemented in many countries around the world and helps young people to improve their knowledge. According to her, the program enables participants not only to master the English language, but also to develop the skills required in today’s labor market.

The English Access Scholarship Program prioritizes the development of competencies in four key areas. The program aims to foster 21st-century skills, develop critical thinking, creativity and effective communication. Other key components of the program include English language tuition using IT technologies and artificial intelligence tools, as well as the development of digital literacy and leadership qualities.

As well as imparting knowledge, the program paves the way for students to acquire the practical skills necessary for their future career development. Students learn how to write a CV, the rules for attending job interviews, professional communication, and methods of self-presentation in the labor market.

Nurgul Zhanabaeva, highlighting the program’s benefits, emphasized that participants not only improve their English but also develop critical thinking and professional communication skills. Various extracurricular activities are organized for students, and opportunities are provided to develop leadership qualities and teamwork skills.

Another distinctive feature of the program is that graduates who successfully complete the course are given the opportunity to take part in special fairs and events organized by the US Consulate-General. This enables young people to forge new professional and educational connections, as well as to gain experience in an international environment.

In her speech, Ingrid Korsgaard expressed her confidence that the knowledge and experience gained by young people from Kyzylorda during the program would become an important resource, contributing to the development of partnership relations between Kazakhstan and the US in the future.

It should be noted that the ‘English Access’ scholarship program has been held regularly in Kyzylorda since 2016. This year, applications are being accepted until 17 September.

Young people aged between 18 and 25 are eligible to take part in the competition. This year, the program offers 32 scholarships.

The program begins on October 5th and lasts for two years.
