CHINA: UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES PARTICIPATE IN AN INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR

Gulnur Kabakova, senior lecturer of the economics and management educational program at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, and Nurzhan Pirmaganbet, a Media Center specialist, participated in an international seminar in the People’s Republic of China dedicated to the economic development of the tourism industry in developing countries.

The seminar, held from September 7^th to 22^nd, focused on studying the development of the tourism industry within the Hainan Free Trade Port, exchanging international experience, and exploring ways to enhance the economic potential of the tourism sector.

The first stage of the seminar took place in Haikou. Participants attended lectures on the key features of China’s economic development, the prospects for transforming Hainan Province into an international tourism and consumption destination, and tourism policies within the framework of the Free Trade Port.

The program addressed the impact of duty-free trade policies on the tourism economy, ways to improve the structure of tourism consumption, the development of cultural tourism, and the creation of new employment opportunities.

Participants visited Damiao Village in Wenchang, the Space Science Center, Hainan Chunguang Foodstuff Co., Ltd., and the international duty-free shopping center in Haitang Bay, Sanya. Meetings were also held with representatives of the Sanya tourism authorities and the management of the Mandarin Oriental hotel, where the delegates learned about advanced management practices in the tourism industry.

The next stage of the seminar will take place in Shanghai. Participants will exchange views with experts from Soochow University and learn about the activities of the Shanghai Institute of Tourism. The cultural and educational program will include a cruise along the Huangpu River and visits to Shanghai’s historical and cultural landmarks.

During the international seminar, participants gained an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms of economic development in the tourism sector, best practices for improving tourism infrastructure, and opportunities for further international cooperation.
