OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENDOWMENT FUNDS DISCUSSED

Astana Medical University hosted the sixth meeting of representatives of Kazakhstan’s endowment funds, higher education institutions, and asset management companies. Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University was represented by Marzhan Bazarkhanova, Director of the Korkyt Ata Endowment Corporate Fund.

The meeting addressed the establishment and development of endowment capital intended to provide long-term support for education and science. Particular attention was paid to opportunities for using Islamic finance instruments in the activities of endowment funds.

The participants discussed the fundamental principles of Islamic finance, investment instruments available in Kazakhstan’s financial market, mechanisms for the effective management of fund assets, and relevant legal requirements. They also emphasised the importance of combining national philanthropic traditions with modern financial approaches.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged experience in enhancing the sustainability of endowment funds, investing endowment capital effectively, strengthening cooperation with asset management companies, and identifying new opportunities for financing educational and research projects.

The meeting provided the Korkyt Ata Endowment Corporate Fund with an opportunity to explore best practices in endowment management, expand its professional network, and identify effective mechanisms for the long-term support of the University’s educational and research initiatives.
