Gulnar Iskakova graduated from the Almaty State Conservatory named after Kurmangazy in 1984. In 1998 she graduated from the theoretical faculty of the Almaty State Conservatory named after Kurmangazy. In 2007 she defended her scientific degree in art history.

She began her career as a teacher at the Kyzylorda Music School (1984-1986).

She worked as a teacher at the Kazangap Music School (1986-1991).

Since 1991, he has been working as a senior lecturer at Kyzylorda State University named after Korkyt Ata. (2007)

In 2001, Gulnar Islambekovna Iskakova, senior teacher of the Department of Traditional Musical Art, was awarded the title of academic associate professor.
