Main tasks:
1. Creating conditions for the comprehensive development of students' research creativity;
2. To assist in improving the quality of training of humanitarian specialists;
3. Make efforts to improve the efficiency of research work of specialized departments of the university;
4. Conducting scientific research in accordance with the approved scientific direction in the field of history, philosophy and art;
5. Search for the legacies of outstanding thinkers and scientists who occupy an important place in the cultural life of the Kazakh people, rare publications, books, archival documents and manuscripts and participation in research expeditions formed for their scientific expertise;
6. The study of ethnic processes that took place in the Oguzo-Kipchak period, and the popularization of the ethnic, as well as historical and cultural community of the Turkic peoples;
7. Study of the ethnographic features of the region and generalization of the spiritual, cultural and scientific heritages of historical figures;
8. Study and translation into the state language of historical works found as a result of archaeological searches, with their subsequent introduction into scientific circulation;
9. To contribute to the creation of conditions for the formation of creative skills among young researchers;
10. The release of a series of popular science publications in order to popularize the history and ethnography of the Land of Cheese.

Main functions:
1. Organization and holding of scientific conferences, seminars, round tables, student debates at regional and republican levels on the problems of literature, history;
2. Implementation of scientific, educational and research activities in the field of literature, history;
3. Development and implementation of scientific fundamental research in the field of literature, history, examination and preparation of teaching materials;
4. Establishing contacts and close interaction with government agencies at all levels working on literature and history;
5. Providing consulting assistance on literary, historical issues to the heads of structural divisions of state structures, educational institutions engaged in educational work;
6. Qualified consulting of doctoral students, undergraduates, students of graduate departments, starting with the elaboration of the idea, the choice of the topic, the justification of the goals and objectives of their research.
