The study of ancient artifacts of the Aral region together with Japanese scientists will be carried out

A new discovery related to the history and archeology of the Aral Sea. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and technology of Japan, together with Meiji University in Tokyo, the Center for the study of Obsidian and stones and the Кorkyt Ata Kyzylorda University Research Center for archeology and Ethnography, won an international research project funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and technology of Japan in 2024-2026.

The project provides for laboratory analysis (pottery) of artifacts found in the vicinity of the Aral Sea of ancient times.  Currently, preparations are being made for the signing of a bilateral memorandum with Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

As a result of the project, it is planned to publish several scientific papers.

- Eiko Endo, PhD-researcher at the Center for the study of Obsidian and stones, Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan

- Shinya Shoda, PhD - Head of the Department of international cooperation of the Nara National Institute for the study of cultural values, Naro

- Kurmaniyazov Islam Serikovich, master of Humanities - researcher of the scientific center of Archeology and Ethnography of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan.

Project deadline: April 2024 to March 2027.
