Opportunity for gifted students to study under the “Bolashaq” program: Senators approve relevant law

Today, deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Issues of Culture, Education, and Mentorship.”

The purpose of the law is to expand the scope of the state language, strengthen its status, protect children’s rights, and further improve national legislation in the field of education.

This document introduces amendments to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Culture,” which provide for:
• The creation of the National Vocabulary Fund of the Kazakh Language as a state information system ensuring access to the Kazakh language’s lexical resources;
• The development of the National Corpus of the Kazakh Language as an informational and reference system that includes texts of all styles and genres of the Kazakh language;
• The establishment of a large-scale language model based on an artificial neural network to provide access to the Kazakh language’s vocabulary for processing, generating, and analyzing texts in Kazakh.

Additionally, amendments to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education” introduce a provision for state support of gifted students and the encouragement of their scientific activities. This includes awarding state educational grants on a non-competitive basis to winners and prize holders of international scientific project competitions.

The adoption of this law will contribute to the implementation of the state’s policy on developing the state language and improving the quality of legislation in the field of education.
