Zooarchaeology of Kazakhstan: present and future

An event dedicated to the development of the scientific field between Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University and Institute of Archaeology named after A.H.Margulan was held.

Head of A.H.Margulan Zooarchaeological Laboratory, researcher, PhD student Mambet Shagyrbayev gave an online lecture on the topic "The importance of zooarchaeology and its application in the archeology of Kazakhstan." 

During the lecture, the prospects and development of zooarchaeology in Kazakhstan were widely discussed. The speaker explained in detail the connection of zooarchaeology with other scientific fields, as well as its methods and techniques. Important aspects of the study of materials obtained as a result of excavations (animal bones and plant remains), the importance of biological and paleoecological research were demonstrated.

The meeting was attended by employees of the Scientific Center of Archeology and Ethnography of the educational institution, students of the educational program "History and Archeology" and members of the "Council of Young Scientists" of the Institute of Archeology named after A.H.Margulan.

It should be noted that this event was organized within the framework of an agreement on cooperation between educational institutions. In the future, it is planned to hold lectures on the achievements and directions of archeology in Kazakhstan, physical anthropology, archaeological ceramic research.
