Opening of the modern type library "Open space"

The opening of the library of the modern type "Open Space" took place in the Palace of Students of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

"Open space" is a library equipped with the latest technologies, providing the teaching staff and students with domestic and foreign textbook books, suitable for meetings in various formats.

At the opening ceremony of the library, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University Beibitkul Karimova noted that the modern library will give an impetus to high-quality education and personal development of students.

- The book does not lose its value at any time. This was stated by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, noting that "Today, without books, as well as without libraries, successful human development is impossible. Libraries around the world are a hotbed of knowledge and culture, a place of new thoughts and opinions. Despite the rapid development of the electronic learning format, the educational role of the traditional library never loses its significance."

Over time, the opportunities that the library provides to its readers increase. To date, the book fund of the university's scientific library has more than 2 million copies of books. Every year more and more books necessary for the educational process are purchased, the number of textbooks is growing, – said Beibitkul Sarsemkhanovna.

At the event, the State and Public figure Murat Abenov noted the high scientific potential of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. He also noted that the opening of the library helps to increase the intellectual level of young people, the birth of new ideas, and the frequent reunion of students.

It is worth noting that the number of e-books is also growing in the educational institution. The University's Scientific Library has signed a contract with the AlemBook electronic library for 5 years. This gives students the opportunity to read books for free on the AlemBook platform.

In addition, the term of use of the Republican Interuniversity Electronic Library database has been extended for 5 years.

In the 2021-2022 academic year, 5710 copies of textbooks were purchased for a total amount of more than 38 million tenge.

Today, intensive work is underway to digitalize the university's libraries. For this purpose, a high-speed Optima A2 scanner was purchased at a cost of 6,496,000 tenge, electronic versions of books in the amount of 617 copies were developed last academic year.

The library located in the Palace of Students has been renovated and reopened in the format of "Open space".  Open space is equipped with the latest generation of computers for 12 seats, laptops, a conference hall for 30 seats, a small hall for 10 seats and a separate space for students for 40 seats. All textbooks purchased under educational programs are available to readers here.

The solemn event was attended by state and public figure Murat Abenov, Chief of Staff of the  Mayor (Akim) of the Kyzylorda region Shakhmardan Baymanov, Director of the Centralized Library System named after A. S. Pushkin Gulmira Rakhmetov, members of the Board of Directors of the University, head of the Department for Quality Assurance in the field of Education of the Kyzylorda region Galiya Dauletova, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, teaching staff and students.
