THE NEW CONSTITUTION’S DISCUSSION WAS HELD AT KORKYT ATA UNIVERSITY

A round table discussion titled "New Constitution – the people's choice, the state's strength" was held at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. The event took place at the
M. Shokai Center in the university's first academic facility. Faculty members, scholars, staff, and students, led by the Chairman of the Board – Rector Nauryzbay Seitkaliuly, attended it. 

During the meeting, the significance of the new Constitution for the country's socio-political development, the strengthening of the law rule and the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms were comprehensively discussed. Speaking at the round table, the university's management emphasized that the new Constitution is a fundamental value determining the country's sustainable development. Citing examples from the past, the Rector particularly noted the impossibility of building a harmonious society without knowledge of one's own rights and responsibilities. According to him, the formation of a legal culture, increasing respect for the law, and strengthening civic responsibility are among the most important tasks of educational institutions.  

At the gathering, experienced scholars and young graduates also spoke, discussing the role, purpose, and objectives of the new Constitution, as well as the amendments made to it. Participants noted that the updated version of the Basic Law is an important document that will lay the foundation for a new stage in the development of the state and society. An exchange of views also took place regarding the historical significance of the constitutional changes and their importance for future generations. The concluding thought of the meeting was: "The highest value of the state is a person, his life, rights, and freedoms".

It should be noted that the country's new Constitution received popular support in a republican referendum held on March 15, 2026. The document officially came into force on July 1. It is important to emphasize that, in accordance with the new Constitution, the day of its adoption in the republican referendum – March 15 – has been established as Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
