KYZYLORDA LECTURER UNDERTAKES RESEARCH INTERNSHIP IN THE UK

Moldir Ashimova, a senior lecturer in the "Computer Science" educational program at the Engineering and Technology Institute of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, has been undertaking a research internship at the University of Leeds (UK) since March 2026 as part of the international "Bolashak" scholarship program.

The University of Leeds is one of the UK's leading research institutions and a member of the prestigious Russell Group. During her internship, Moldir Ashimova enhanced her professional and research expertise in areas such as telecommunications technology, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

Throughout her internship, she has participated in the "Making AI Work for Business" program at the Saïd Business School (University of Oxford), the international Cyber Science 2026 conference in London, as well as the AI Summit London 2026 and London Tech Week 2026. Furthermore, at the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics Annual CDT Conference 2026, she explored the latest research in artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous systems.

One of Moldir Ashimova’s notable academic achievements was receiving the "Best PGR Poster Award" at the ELEC PGR Conference 2026, held at the University of Leeds.

Besides, in June 2026, she presented a research paper at the international ICCSDFAI 2026 conference at Istinye University (Istanbul, Turkey), where she shared her research findings with the international scientific community.

As part of her internship, Moldir Ashimova visited Nuffield Hospital Leeds, where she observed robotic knee replacement surgery, gaining insight into the application of robotics and digital technologies in medicine.

It is worth noting that Moldir Ashimova also successfully passed the competitive selection process for the Young Experts Support Program of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She was one of only two representatives from Kyzylorda region selected for this program.
