Announcement of the competition for awards and state scientific scholarships in the field of science for 2026

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan announces a competition for awards and state scientific scholarships in the field of science (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) based on Article 31 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Science and Technology Policy" and subparagraph 148) of paragraph 15 of Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 580 dated August 19, 2022.

Awards and state scientific scholarships are approved by Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 389 dated August 4, 2023:

- One K. I. Satpayev Award — for the best scientific research in the field of natural sciences;

- One Ch. Ch. Valikhanov Award — for the best scientific research in the field of humanities;

- One I. Altynsarin Award — for the best scientific research and work in the field of pedagogy;

- One Kultegin Award — for outstanding achievements in the field of Turkology;

- One D. A. Kunayev Award for Young Scientists — for the best work in the field of natural sciences;

- One M. O. Auezov Award for Young Scientists — for the best work in the field of humanities;

- 75 state scientific scholarships, including 50 state scientific scholarships for talented young scientists (up to 44 years old inclusive).

The competition is conducted in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including:

Order of the Acting Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 466 dated September 14, 2023 "On Approval of the Rules for Awarding Prizes and State Scientific Scholarships in the Field of Science";

Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 517 dated October 14, 2021 "On Approval of Criteria for Selecting Works for Awards and Criteria for Selecting Candidates for State Scientific Scholarships in the Field of Science";

Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 242 dated June 11, 2020 "On Approval of the Rules for the Provision of the State Service 'Acceptance of Works for Awards and State Scientific Scholarships in the Field of Science'".

Acceptance of applications is carried out electronically through the "Single Window of the National Innovation System" information system.

In accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, acceptance of works for awards and state scientific scholarships is conducted by NJSC "National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan" under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan within 30 (thirty) calendar days from the date of publication of this announcement.

List of documents for award applicants in the field of science:

1)    Scientific work in the form of monographs, chapters in monographs, articles, reviews, patents, author's certificates (no more than five);

2)    Description of the work (no more than half a printed sheet) outlining the content, relevance, and novelty of the research, main scientific results, their significance, and potential for further use;

3)    Extract from the minutes of the meeting of the advisory body of the nominating organization;

4)    Certificate from the main place of employment of the award candidate;

5)    Brief description of the candidate's scientific activity indicating their creative contribution (for collective works);

6)    Certificate from the nominating organization confirming that the submitted work has not previously received awards funded by the state budget;

7)    Copy of the implementation act (if available);

8)    Notification of an active 20-digit card account.

9)    Documents specified in subparagraphs 4), 5), and 6) in case of the candidate's dismissal are provided from their last place of employment.

List of documents for participation in the competition for state scientific scholarships:

1)    Motivated request (recommendation) of the advisory body of the organization;

2)    Certificate from the main place of employment of the candidate for the state scientific scholarship;

3)    List of scientific publications of the candidate over the last five years (excluding the year of the competition announcement), as well as offprints of the most significant ones (no more than five);

4)    Copy of the implementation act (if available);

5)    Documents confirming leadership of scientific projects and programs (if available, not required for applicants among talented young scientists);

6)    Documents confirming the training of personnel awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor in Profile in the Republic of Kazakhstan (if available, not required for applicants among talented young scientists);

7)    Documents confirming international cooperation (if available, only for applicants among talented young scientists);

8)    Notification of an active 20-digit card account.

Additional requirements for monographs:

For monographs published by domestic publishing houses: an abstract up to two printed pages, a copy of the title page, publication details, and at least two reviews must be submitted.

For monographs published by foreign publishing houses: an abstract up to two printed pages, a copy of the title page, and publication details must be submitted.

In monographs, chapters of monographs, articles, and reviews, candidates must indicate a Kazakhstani organization or the Republic of Kazakhstan as their affiliation. A brief description and table of contents of the monograph (including the monograph in which a chapter is published) must be posted on the official website with accessible information on where it can be purchased or read.
