NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACADEMIC COOPERATION DISCUSSED AT INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE

As part of the Science Summit 2026, a high-level dialogue entitled “Science Diplomacy and Global Cooperation” was held. The event was organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and several international partners. The dialogue brought together representatives of government bodies, international organizations, research institutions, and higher education institutions, as well as international experts.

As part of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between ICESCO and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This agreement marked an important step towards strengthening cooperation in scientific research, education, and international engagement.

The participation of the Kazakhstani delegation in the international programme was also aimed at strengthening direct ties between educational institutions. The delegation met with ICESCO Director-General Dr. Salim M. AlMalik. Discussions focused on expanding international cooperation in higher education, science, and culture, sharing expertise, and exploring new areas for partnership.

In addition, the Kazakhstani delegation held a meeting with Jason Czyz, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of International Education (IIE). The meeting, held at One World Trade Center, was attended by members of the Kazakhstani delegation and representatives of ICESCO and IIE. The discussions focused on advancing international educational ties and exploring new opportunities for academic cooperation.

It is worth noting that the Science Summit 2026 is taking place in New York City as part of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Summit runs from 21 to 25 September 2026. The Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University delegation is represented by Nauryzbay Baikadamov, Chairman of the Board – Rector, and Dana Abdrasheva, Member of the Board – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

The Summit brings together representatives from science, higher education, public policy, international organizations, industry, and innovation. Its key themes include science diplomacy, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, scientific cooperation, innovation development, and harnessing science to advance sustainable development.
