The university's international relations with South Korea have expanded

The delegation of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University visited South Korea on a working visit from May 22 to 26. During the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed with a number of universities.

This was announced at a briefing in the Regional Communications Service by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University Beibitkul Karimova.

During the visit to the Republic of Korea, a special meeting was held with the President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Mr. Lee Dong-hoon. The meeting was supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Korea. The meeting was attended by Akim of the Kyzylorda region Nurlybek Nalibayev, Chairman of the regional maslikhat N.Baykadamov, rector of the Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University  B. Karimovа. In addition, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, together with the vice ministers, added that the initiatives will be supported online.

-Within the framework of the instruction of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the opening of branches of leading foreign universities of Kazakhstan, cooperation between Seoul and the Kazakh University is of particular importance.

Currently, work is underway to open the School of Artificial Intelligence of Seoul National University of Science and Technology. The opening of the school is carried out within the framework of the project "Leading University for International Cooperation" (LUPIC).

The project officially started on April 1, 2023. It consists of three stages and lasts seven years. The head and coordinator of the project was approved by the professor of the University Seоulteh Jesu Kim, - said Beibitkul Sarsemkhanovna.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to open educational programs in the areas of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, computer science. It is also planned to open a business incubator center. Every year, 2 professors from Seоulteh University are sent to conduct lectures, and 2 students are sent for program purposes. Modern laboratories will be created for these specialties, which will be provided with servers, advanced equipment and programs released in the Republic of Korea.

In the future, it is planned to open a branch of Seоulteh on the basis of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. The head of the region noted that the work on the opening of the branch, in particular, on the allocation of educational grants, the construction of a new building will be supported.

During the visit to South Korea, the university delegation met with the President of Shinhan University, Mr. Kang Song Chong.

At the meeting, Mr. Kang Song Chong expressed his desire to open a branch of the university in Kyzylorda. A memorandum of cooperation was also signed between Shinhan University and Korkyt Ata University.

The university delegation also held talks on cooperation with a number of universities.

In the future, work will be carried out with South Korean universities to train students of various levels, exchange professors and teachers, organize joint research, conduct scientific events, send delegations and develop cooperation with scientific institutions.

In particular, more than 20 years ago, a partnership was established with the world-famous Gangnam University. Since then, every year students of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University have had the opportunity to study at Gangnam University under the Academic Mobility program. This will allow Kyzylorda students to get a quality education and gain experience. Now the number of students attending academic mobility will grow.

During the visit, an agreement was signed on the implementation of joint projects with Seoul Cyber University, Sookmyung Women's University, strengthening partnership relations. In these foreign universities, undergraduates and teachers of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University will have the opportunity to further study under the academic mobility program.
