Russian scientist gave an online lecture
A lecture by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Sergey Vitalievich Sumatokhin was held at the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. Sergey Vitalievich is a Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor, Head of the Department of Biology and Human Physiology of the Moscow City Pedagogical University.
Author of 300 educational and methodological and scientific works, including 4 monographs, 8 school textbooks of biology and ecology, 20 educational and methodological manuals, as well as more than 130 scientific articles. He is also the head of the developing scientific and pedagogical school on the theory and methodology of teaching and educating biology at the Moscow City Pedagogical University. Along with this, for more than fifteen years, S.V. Sumatokhin has been acting as the editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed scientific and methodological journal "Biology at School", which is included in the List of the Higher Attestation Commission. Sergey Vitalievich maintains close ties with our university, being the head of doctoral students Tursymatova O. I. and Karabaleva A. B. majoring in Biology.
The guest lecture is devoted to the modern prospects for the development of school biological education, it reflected the current educational trends that concern not only university professors, but also teachers of secondary schools. During the lecture, the issues of natural science literacy of schoolchildren were considered, data on world research in the field of school education, PISA and TIMSS programs were presented. The model of global competencies, the main approaches to the assessment of global competencies are also considered, the results of monitoring the assessment of global competencies in Russia and Kazakhstan are presented. The lecturer provided information on updated biology textbooks for in-depth study, and the professor also noted that digital biology textbooks will soon appear. The information received during the lecture succinctly reflected the main points of school education and will serve for the benefit of improving the professional competencies of participants, expanding the boundaries of international cooperation.
