Kyzylorda hosted international ecological marathon

As part of the month of science, Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University hosted the first international environmental marathon in the region.

The purpose of the marathon is to discuss issues related to reducing the consequences of adverse environmental factors, to promote the implementation of projects in the field of environment, Water Supply and socio – economic development of the Aral Sea region, as well as to develop international cooperation in the field of Ecology and Natural Resources.

Experts of the World Health Organization, foreign and Kazakhstan scientists, longtime partners of the university and researchers of the ecosystem of the Aral Sea region took part in the work of the Eco-Marathon.

"Since this year, the Republic of Kazakhstan will chair the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea for 2024-2026. The International Fund for the salvation of the Aral Sea, which includes Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, is engaged in the implementation of joint Interstate environmental and scientific-practical programs and projects aimed at saving the Aral Sea and improving the environmental situation in the region, as well as solving general socio-environmental problems. Today's event, which is held within the framework of the month of Science, is devoted not only to the environmental problems of our region, but also to the environment in the global world," said Beibitkul Karimova, Chairman of the board-Rector of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

The main task of the meeting is to further strengthen the interaction and cooperation of scientists of the states that are part of the International Fund for saving the island, including the effective use of Water Resources of Central Asia, the development of sustainability of the future.

Analysis of ecosystems of the unfavorable region of the Aral Sea region, increasing scientific cooperation to improve the environmental situation in the Aral Sea basin.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the Department of ecology of Kyzylorda region Nurzhan Omirserikuly, expert of the World Health Organization on environmental issues Ali Osama, president of the Polish Limnological Society, Professor of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan Pyotr Klimashik, professor of South-West Jiaoton university (Chengdu, China), deputy dean of the Institute of Environmental Engineering Zhao Jiaoyan, professor of South-West Jiaoton university (Chengdu, China) Sergey Krivonogov.
The relay race for the ecological marathon was sent to scientists from Uzbekistan.

After that, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between South-West Jiaotong University and Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.
