The problem of drug addiction among young people and its prevention

A round table on the dangers of drug addiction for health and society was held at Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University.

The meeting was organized as part of a research work on the topic "Socio-economic consequences of drug addiction: prevention and information". 

At the meeting, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations Mainur Buribayeva spoke about the scientific work on drug addiction prevention carried out at the educational institution. 

Law enforcement representative Dauren Sharipbayev spoke about the general statistics of drug crimes in the region.  

"There are 973 convicts serving sentences in the region, and the number of convicted drug offenders is 219 people. Of these, 13 are for synthetic drugs. Which is 22.5% of the defendants”, - he says.

The meeting was attended by representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Kyzylorda region Dauren Sharipbayev, senior operational representative of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of Kyzylorda region Police Department, Police Major Yerlan Zhanzhigitov, senior specialists of the Center for the Study of Religious Problems, Olzhas Narymbektov and Nurdaulet Bauyrzhan, specialist of Kyzylorda Regional Mental Health Center Kenzhegul Baydusenova, Director of AngarSpetsStroy LLP Omarov Berik, Director of the Institute of Economics and Law Gulshat Duzelbaeva, senior teachers of the educational program "Economics and Management" Abai Shaynurov and Zhanna Smagulova. 

Industry experts discussed the consequences and ways to combat drug addiction, current religious problems in society, ways to prevent drug addiction among young people, and the socio-economic impact of drug addiction on society. In addition, young people were encouraged to avoid bad habits, not to use drugs, not to engage in illegal activities.
