Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University for the first time in the QS World University Ranking: Sustainable Development 2025

On December 10, 2024, experts in the field of global higher education published the third edition of the QS World University Ranking: Sustainable Development 2025.

The ranking includes 1,744 universities from 107 countries, including 661 from Asia and 17 from Kazakhstan.

Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University entered this rating for the first time and took the position 1401-1450, 503rd place among Asian universities, and 12th place among Kazakhstani universities.

The ranking of universities is based on 3 main criteria:

Environmental Impact: Environmental Education – 17%

Evaluates both the provision and impact of higher education in the field of environmental sustainability.

Combines reputation data, graduate data, and institutional data. information about educational support.

Environmental Research– 13%

Evaluates the impact of the environmental research on the institution on topics related to these specific UN SDGs: 7, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. 

Environmental Sustainability- 15%

Evaluates the institution's strategy and activities towards an environmentally sustainable future. Aggregates institutional data, climate-focused group membership, graduate data, and survey data.

Employability and Opportunities - 11%

Evaluates the agency's efforts to ensure employment, opportunities, as well as its reputation and research partnership with industry. Summarizes research data, survey data, reputation data, and statistics at the national level.

         Equality– 12%

Evaluates both the efforts and the impact of the institution's activities, commitment to equality. Aggregation of institutional data, survey data, research data and statistics at the national level

 Social impact

Health & Wellbeing- 5%

Evaluates the institution's commitment to improving the health and well-being not only of its students, but also of society more broadly. Aggregation of research data, graduate data, institutional data, and national-level statistics

Impact of Education-7%

Evaluates the provision of quality education and research,

and the impact of this position. Summarizes research data, reputation data, graduate data, and statistics at the national level.

Knowledge Exchange - 10%

Evaluates how educational institutions collaborate in the field of research between regions to share knowledge and stimulate the growth of education, as well as the positive impact of the university on the local community and society as a whole. Summarizes research and survey data.

Good Governance– 10%

Evaluates whether an educational institution has effective governance, for example, through an open decision-making process, a holistic ethical organizational culture, student representation in university governing bodies, and financial transparency. Collects institutional data, research data, surveys, and statistics at the national level. According to these criteria, the university occupies the following positions:

As you can see, our university has the best result according to the criterion of Management, according to which we occupy the 435th place. This became possible due to the development of corporate governance at the university, the broad representation of students in collegial bodies and the transparency of their activities.
