University scientists are doing a research project on environmental monitoring

Scientists at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University are doing research on «Biodiversity studies at the Khorasan-1 deposit in the Zhanakorgan district».

This project is being carried out as part of the scientific project «Assessment of biodiversity at uranium deposits, industrial facilities, and adjacent territories during environmental monitoring» commissioned by Turanium LLP.

The scientific research is aimed at implementing the 15th Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations, which focuses on protecting and restoring terrestrial ecosystems.

The research project is being implemented by the teaching staff of the Biology, Geography, and Chemistry educational program under the guidance of Rakhat Kurmanbayev, Associate Professor at the university and Candidate of Biological Sciences.

The study assesses the state of biodiversity and ecosystem sustainability in uranium mining areas and adjacent territories. Scientific recommendations on environmental protection and rational use of natural resources have also been developed, and scientific articles have been published.

Undeniably, that Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University will contribute to the sustainable development of the region and increase its scientific and innovative potential through these environmentally-oriented projects.
