There is a tendency to strengthen Kazakh-Korean cooperation

Beibitkul Karimova, the Rector of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, welcomed The Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty, Mr. Ha Tae Wook. While opening the meeting, the rector informed the distinguished guests about the rich history of the educational institution, its international connections and strategic development directions. Also there were presented the university's achievements in international cooperation and steps towards integration into the global educational space. 

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the development of partnerships in education and science, academic mobility programs, internships for faculty members, and student exchanges. Additionally, joint projects for teaching the Korean language and prospects for expanding cultural and humanitarian ties were considered.

Beibitkul Karimova announced plans to open a master's program in a bilingual (English-Korean) curriculum in the new academic year. In this regard, she emphasized the need for support in providing educational and methodological materials and giving lectures for PhD doctors from the consulate. The rector also noted that a new institute is planned to be established at the university and expressed hope for a positive response from the Consul General on this matter.

For his part, The Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty, Mr. Ha Tae Wook, thanked the rector for the warm welcome and assured that all initiatives aimed at the university developing would be supported. The Consul General emphasized that the main goal of his visit to Aral Sea region is to strengthen cooperation between Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University and higher educational institutions in the Republic of Korea to enhance the quality of education and strengthen intercultural ties.

During the event, the parties agreed to develop connections further and activate international student exchanges.

Subsequently, the university management demonstrated the «Korean Corner», located in the first academic facility of the university to the Korean delegation, also there was organized a meeting with youth studying the Korean language. They also visited the students’ palace, where rare valuable books and manuscripts are being kept. The Consul General expressed particular admiration for a multi-volume collection written in ancient Korean in the XVIII century. As part of the visit, the distinguished guests were able to get acquainted with the exhibition showcasing the results of the joint work with Seoul National University of Science and Technology of the Republic of Korea.
