«Generation of Independence» grant awarded to a student of Korkyt Ata University

Shugyla Nurgaliyeva, a second-year student at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of the Kyzylorda University named after Korkyt Ata, presented her project for the national «Generation of Independence» grant and received a grant of 3 million tenge in the «Volunteering» category.

This grant is aimed at supporting talented and socially active youth. At the final meeting of the competition commission, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balayeva, noted that the policy of comprehensive youth support, pursued by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is one of the priority areas at the state level.

The «Generation of Independence» grant is one of the presidential initiatives that provide young people with the opportunity to implement new ideas. The commission included members of parliament, scientists, cultural figures, media experts, and business representatives.

This year, a total of 1700 applications were received for the competition, of which 1622 were accepted. In the «Volunteering» category, 171 applications were submitted. Following the commission's work, 30 projects with the highest scores across 6 categories were selected.

Among the best was the «EcoQogam» project, developed by our university's student, Shugyla Nurgaliyeva. This project is a gamified mobile application aimed at engaging youth in environmental activities.

«Users complete specific environmental tasks, earn points, and receive badges and prizes. Additionally, with the help of EcoMap, it's easy to find waste sorting points and eco-zones. This project promotes the development of eco-culture and, in a playful manner, increases young people's interest in nature protection», explains Shugyla Nurgaliyeva.

Currently, an MVP version of the project has been prepared on the Figma platform, and works are fulfilled in order to create a full-fledged mobile application.

Winners receive financial support from the state in the amount of 3 million tenge for project implementation.

The innovative environmental project developed by a student of the Korkyt Ata University serves as an exemplary model for the country's youth.
