Korkyt Ata University participated in an international seminar within the Erasmus+ Cyber4CA Project

An international seminar-training was held at the International Information Technology University from March 31 to April 2 within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA2 “Capacity building in higher education” program as part of the project “Development of an innovative postgraduate educational program in cybersecurity for the digital labour market of Central Asia (Cyber4CA).”

The seminar titled “Comparative analysis of cybersecurity applications in curriculum development of higher education institutions in the european union and central asia” brought together representatives of leading universities, research organizations, industry associations, and government bodies from the EU and Central Asian countries. Participants engaged in comprehensive discussions on the development of cybersecurity education systems.

The main objective of the seminar was to conduct a comparative analysis of cybersecurity educational programs, curricula, and best practices implemented in higher education institutions of the EU and partner countries, as well as to summarize the results of the analytical phase of the project and establish a foundation for the next stage — the development of academic courses and programs.

On the first day of the seminar, best practices in cybersecurity from EU countries were presented, including educational standards, teaching methods, and curricula. Existing programs and current challenges in partner countries were also discussed, and analytical results based on deliverables D2.1 and D2.2 were presented.

On the second day,   examined professional competencies in cybersecurity and labour market requirements. Patricularly, CyberLab models were discussed. Besides, participants were divided into working groups, where parallel sessions addressed issues related to curriculum content, practical training, laboratory infrastructure, and institutional support.

During the seminar, A.O. Dautbayeva, Associate Professor of the “Computer Science” educational program at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, delivered a presentation providing a comprehensive analysis of the curriculum of an innovative master’s program in cybersecurity planned to be launched at the university. The presentation covered course content in detail, learning outcomes, and their characteristics, with particular emphasis on professional disciplines.

Furthermore, the proposed curriculum was compared with practices of international partner universities, enabling an exchange of views at the international level on improving educational programs.

Within the parallel working groups, N.B. Konyrbayev, Associate Professor of the university, actively contributed to discussions on CyberLab and practical training. This section focused on laboratory equipment, educational and laboratory infrastructure, practical assignment systems, and collaboration with industry.

The seminar-training made a significant contribution to improving the quality of higher education in cybersecurity, fostering international cooperation, and enhancing regional educational programs.
