AN ITALIAN AUTHOR'S BOOK ON KAZAKHSTAN'S HISTORY HAS BEEN UNVEILED

A presentation of the book "The forgotten tragedy" by Italian writer and ecologist Roberto Boltri took place at the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

The cultural event was attended by university faculty, students, and representatives of the intellectuals.

During the meeting, Mainura Buribayeva, Vice-Rector for scientific work and international relations and a member of the university's board, noted that the author is a global citizen contributing to the research of Aral Sea issues and the historical and cultural themes of Central Asia.

At the event, Roberto Boltri elaborated on the historical significance of the book, emphasizing that the main goal of the work is to present the true history of the tragic years experienced by the Kazakh people in the 20th century on an international level.

The book, carrying profound meaning, recounts one of the most difficult historical periods for the Kazakh people – famine and political repression – based on archival data and eyewitness accounts. The author comprehensively explored the consequences of Soviet policy, the mass extermination and flight of the people, as well as the fates of Kazakh intellectuals who faced persecution.

It was also noted that the release of the book in Kazakh and Russian languages will increase its accessibility to a wider audience.

The meeting concluded with the official book presentation, where participants asked the author questions and exchanged views.

"The forgotten tragedy" is an important work aimed at studying historical truth and conveying it to the consciousness of future generations.
