  A meeting with a delegation from South Korea was held at the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University on October 31, 2022. On the issue of strengthening cooperation in the field of education and science.

 At the meeting, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University Beibitkul Karimova noted that currently the university cooperates with more than 170 foreign universities, cultural and scientific centers. Among these countries, universities of the Republic of Korea occupy a special place.

 - Last year, an online meeting was held with the participation of a delegation of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea on a project to develop cooperation with Korean universities. The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea has proposed to launch the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) project in 2023 to promote bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education between Korea and Kazakhstan. Seoul National University of Science and Technology was selected as the coordinating university for this project.

 Together with the Department of Informatics and Engineering of SeoulTech, the project "Creation of a new school of artificial intelligence and informatics and a business incubation center" has been developed, - said Beibitkul Sarsemkhanovna.

  At a meeting at the university, Chairman of the special budget commission, National Hero of Korea, Chairman of the General Society Hong Bom Do Woo Won Sik said that a branch of the School of Engineering of Seoul National University of Science and Technology is planned to be gradually opened at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

 The first stage is preparatory, for the formation of the teaching staff, the contingent of students of three educational programs (cybersecurity, computer science, artificial intelligence), the material and technical base and teaching materials (December 2022 – October 2023).

  At the second stage, the implementation stage, enrollment in joint programs will be conducted and training of engineering specialists will begin (October 2023 – December 2026).

  An agreement was also reached to open a museum at our university in honor of the National Hero of Korea, Hom Bom Do, who was deported from the USSR to Kyzylorda in 1937. General Hong Bom Do died on October 25, 1943 in Kyzylorda at the age of 75.

  It should be noted that President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during an official visit to South Korea on August 17, 2021, took part in a ceremony dedicated to the memory of the national hero of the Korean people, Hong Bom Do. In his speech, he called the transfer of the remains of the national hero of Korea, General Hong Bom Do, a manifestation of Kazakhstan's sincere respect for the Korean people.

  The launch of joint work with Seoul National University of Science and Technology will make a tangible contribution to the economic and digital development of the Kyzylorda region and the country as a whole.

  During the meeting, the delegation from Korea got acquainted with the fund of the department "Manuscripts and rare books" in the university library. Rare books and manuscripts in Korean aroused great interest among the guests.

  It should be noted that since 1992, volunteer teachers of the educational center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Agency for International Cooperation have been working at the University. Since the opening of the Korean language program, more than 20 teachers from Korea have worked for 2 years, teaching students the Korean language and culture. Currently, 2 volunteer teachers work at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation.
