PRACTICAL SESSION ON CLIMATE RISK MANAGEMENT HELD

A practical session for the course "Climate risks and their management" was conducted by Perizat Bulanbaeva, Associate Professor and PhD of the "Water management and land use" educational program.

During the session, students from the VRV-25-1 group, majoring in "Water resources and water use", examined the key components of climate risk—hazard, exposure, and vulnerability—and mastered various risk assessment methods. The practical assignments utilized real-world data concerning Kyzylorda region and Syr Darya river basin.

The students conducted analytical work on issues such as water scarcity, flooding, reservoir filling levels, irrigated agriculture, and the impact of climate change on water resources. Following the session, they developed proposals for the efficient use of water resources and adaptation to climate change.
