Student life in Korea: an interview with Aigerim Menlibek

Aigerim Menlibek, a student of Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University, is studying in the autumn semester of 2024 as part of academic mobility at Gangnam University in South Korea. In this interview, she shared her experiences in studying, culture and student life in Korea.

According to Aigerim, in Korea, students can choose the subjects they study, the time and the date themselves. There may be students of different courses in the same class, and the learning process is aimed at ensuring that students can study independently. In each semester, you need to collect certain points and credits. In the academic year, the first semester begins in the spring, and the second in September.

Our heroine's student life is very active. «The university regularly hosts events, campaigns and various games. At the end of September, concerts with the participation of famous singers and dancers were organized at the student festival. In addition, there were special places for students and food vans. Every two months, various gifts were raffled off in the dormitory and free meals were distributed,» Aigerim said.
Aigerim is currently studying Korean pop culture, traditional culture and content, reading Korean, listening and academic English. She is friends with Chinese and Korean students, travels with them around Seoul and experiences interesting moments.

«In Korea, all events are organized for the people. I unexpectedly take part in many events and try to get the most useful experience of living abroad,» Aigerim said.
During off-hours, Aigerim usefully spends time getting acquainted with the sights of Suwon, Seoul, Yongin and other cities, the history of these places. After graduation, she plans to take IELTS and TOPIK-2. «If there is an opportunity, I want to continue my master's degree studies. Developing myself and being in demand as a specialist is my main goal,» Aigerim said.

We wish that the time spent in Korea and experience would open up new opportunities for Aigerim's future! We have high hopes that Aigerim will succeed in her studies and contribute to the development of our country.
