Kazakhstan’s 2025 higher education program rankings announced

The “Atameken” National Chamber of Entrepreneurs has released the 2025 rankings of Kazakhstan’s higher education programs. According to Amazat Beisenbenov, Managing Director of the Human Resources Development Department at Atameken, this ranking provides an objective assessment of educational program quality and is the result of years of work analyzing and evaluating education standards in the country.

The ranking aims to provide useful and objective information for applicants, parents, employers, and educational institutions. During its development, the following key tasks were undertaken:
• Data collection for 2,051 bachelor’s degree programs;
• Engagement of independent industry experts;
• Comprehensive evaluation of programs based on four main criteria:
• Career opportunities for graduates (49%)
• Quality of educational programs (24%)
• Student achievements (16%)
• General indicators of higher education institutions (11%)

In 2024, data from 95 universities covering 2,051 educational programs were analyzed, resulting in 117 rankings. To assess program content, over 100 industry experts from all regions of Kazakhstan were involved.
Key Graduate Employment Statistics

Highest Employment Rates by Field of Study:
• Informatics and Robotics – 98%
• Technical Physics – 95%
• Mineral Processing – 93%
• General Medicine – 92%

Regional Employment Variations:
• Almaty Region leads with 90% employment.
• East Kazakhstan Region follows with 86% (EKSTU & EKU).
• Kostanay & North Kazakhstan Regions show 84% employment rates.
The average job search duration in 2024 was 3.3 months.
Kazakhstan’s higher education rankings highlight the sector’s achievements and areas for further improvement, shaping future development strategies. While the rankings showcase significant progress in education quality, they also identify areas requiring additional attention.
