Current social work issues were the focus of a training and practical course

Within the memorandum of cooperation and interaction between  Kyzylorda regional Governor’s office and Korkyt ata Kyzylorda university on the organization of training, retraining and professional development of social workers, the Center for professional development and additional education organized a professional development course «Modern directions of social work» for social workers of the State Institution «Syrdarya District Employment and Social Programs Department».

The main goal of the course is to enhance the professional qualifications of social workers subordinate to the Kyzylorda regional department of employment and social programs coordination.
The course program was led by senior lecturers of the «Economics and Management» educational program, candidates of economic sciences Meruert Umirzakova and Almakul Abdimonynova, and Master of economic sciences Ulzhan Berikbolova.

Lectures covering a range of important areas were presented to the participants. Specifically, topics such as «Social work and contemporary problems», «Standards and monitoring in social services», «Case management in social work», «Artificial intelligence in social work», and «Ethical foundations of social work» were discussed, as well as social work with families and the elderly, working with domestic and family violence, HR management in social work, and social work methods and technologies.

The lectures were aimed at expanding the professional competencies of the participants, deepening their understanding of modern social work practices and improving their practical skills. Besides, the participants met with students of the «Social work» educational program and shared their experiences.

Practical sessions continued at the rehabilitation center with the support of Gulshat Musaeva, executive secretary of Kyzylorda city branch of the «AMANAT» party and a deputy of the Regional Council and Kyzylorda regional department of employment and social programs coordination.

The head of the rehabilitation center, Manat Tleuova and the social work specialist Galiya Makhanbetova provided a detailed overview of the center's activities. The center, designed for 150 individuals, currently serves approximately 140 citizens with Group I-II disabilities and elderly people unable to care for themselves, who receive special social services in a day-care, semi-inpatient format.

The next lecture of the course took place at the University's psychological support center. The lecture was delivered by Sandygul Daribayeva, an academic associate professor, Master's degree holder, and senior lecturer in the «Pedagogy, psychology, and primary education methodology» educational program. The attendees received comprehensive information about the center's operations, the types of psychological support offered and were provided with the necessary materials.

Following the practical course, the head of the Center for professional development and continuing education, Nurkhan Abdykhalykov, presented certificates to the attendees.
