100 thousand students will master АI algorithms

As part of the National congress (Kurultai), Kazakhstan's Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, during his working trip to Syrdarya region, visited the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Kyzylorda University named after Korkyt Ata. He got acquainted with joint IT and artificial intelligence software projects with SeoulTech.

According to Acting Rector Dana Abdrasheva, the university's education system is closely linked to entrepreneurship, startup culture, and tangible technological outcomes. The Kyzylorda Hub spaces and open co-working areas allow the region's youth to acquire international-level digital skills without leaving the region.

During the meeting, Sayasat Nurbek announced the launch of a Venture Investment Fund. This initiative aims to expand access to advanced technologies and strengthen Kazakhstan's reputation as an international hub for startups and technology. The fund will support young talents and assist startups at all stages of their development.

The Minister also noted the establishment of cooperation with the foreign company ETS (Educational Testing Service), which will allow the National Testing System to be transitioned to an international format.

«In the future, applicants will be able to take the UNT (Unified National Testing) and use this certificate to enroll in any foreign university», the head of the department stated.

Sayasat Nurbek emphasized that the AI-Sana program will form an ecosystem for the development of artificial intelligence in the country. This project paves the way for universities to transition from a traditional education format to a research-oriented direction.

«We have been implementing the AI-Sana program since last year. During this time, 668 thousand students have completed training. All students take courses in artificial intelligence. The best courses from companies such as Coursera, HUAWEI, Microsoft, and Google have been translated into Kazakh and Russian and made available to students. The second phase of the project will begin in February of this year. Within its framework, 100 thousand students will master advanced artificial intelligence algorithms», the Minister reported.

Besides, Sayasat Nurbek noted the formation of a unified science management model in the agrarian region. Annually, the region's economy requires about 10 thousand specialists, most of whom have technical and vocational education. In this regard, a regional map of professions is being developed, and a system for precise planning of educational orders is being implemented. This allows us to move away from formalism in personnel training and adapt to the needs of the labor market.

For example, projects in the field of water resources and the agro-industrial complex demonstrate that regional science is beginning to acquire an applied character.

To conclude the visit, the minister held an open dialogue with students, discussing current issues in science and education. The exchange of views and the guidance received will serve as an impetus for the development of young talents.
